This move rekindled hopes for re-establishing the university, with the central government having initially allocated ₹500 crore for the project in 2015.
By December 2024, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would lay the foundation stone for the new Vikramshila Central University between April and May 2025.
